Below is an overview of three shop units (A, B and C) in a heartland neighbourhood estate. Based on what you have been taught or know, be it Flying Stars, Da Gua, etc., what is the first step of your Fengshui assessment?
All three units have the same facing and opened recently in Period 8. The location of the T-junction lies within Zhen Gua (震卦) for all three shop units. So do you think the Fengshui of these three shop units are the same?
What do you think is the business situation for each of the three shop units? Auspicious, Inauspicious, Or? This is a good instance to validate whether one truly understands Fengshui. Give this a good thought, and in time, I shall first reveal the Fengshui for one of these shop units in 案例分享 [CASES].
For now, let me share the correct key steps and approach in a Fengshui assessment. They can be expressed using just four words, which are:
看, means to see the physical landforms of Yin and Yang nature, in order to recognize the formation 局 (e.g., Liang Yi 两仪, Si Xiang 四象, etc.,) formed (看雌雄定局). Upon the correct recognition of the Formation, the Qi Mouth (气口) of the property will be known clearly. Though this is consider the most crucial step in Fengshui assessment, the “what” and “how” of this step is not known to many practitioners as this knowledge is well kept and not disclosed easily. Furthermore, one must not be misled into thinking that this step is about Landform Fengshui! Although this step involves physical landforms as well, it is not what many think it is…
认, means to identify the 金龙 Jin Long; 零神 Ling Shen and 正神 Zheng Shen (认金龙零正). With the identification of the correct Period, one can ascertain in this step if the Jin Long is at the Qi Mouth. Needless to say, if one recognize the Formation wrongly in the first step, any efforts onwards are futile.
取, means to obtain the 挨星 Ai Xing structure and compatibility of the Formation (取挨星格局), to determine the strength of the Auspiciousness or Inauspiciousness.
立, means to establish appropriate facing based on 城门 Cheng Men (依城门立向). Obviously, due to different outcomes in the above three steps, different facing may be chosen based on different needs or situations.
When one truly understands Xuan Kong 玄空, one will realize why these four key steps alone are effectively the core of Qing Nang Shu 青囊术, and why these four alone are also enough to tell whether a property is Auspicious or Inauspicious (吉凶)! In fact, these four key steps are the 四诀 of Xuan Kong Liu Fa!
What about other Fengshui methods then? What are their purposes? All the answers lie in 心印 of Xuan Kong Liu Fa.

In many instances when assessing the Fengshui of properties, there are many who are unsure of the proper steps or approach to be taken. Is taking the measurements (e.g., facing, junction, etc.,) of the property the first assessment step? Or is it the assessment of the interior situation (e.g., kitchen, bedroom, living room, etc.,)? Or is it the assessment of the physical landforms? Do you know what is the correct steps and approach in a Fengshui assessment?
