Yesterday, a client of mine asked about the effects of tilted doors, which is a common practice by some Fengshui practioners of Da Gua (大卦), Flying Stars (飞星) or even Eight Mansions (八宅). Does tilting the door turns the property into Auspicious as what many have been told?

Qns: From the Flying Stars chart, I was told that my main door was receiving Inauspicious Qi. By tilting, the main door will receive Auspicious Qi. Is tilting of main door effective?

Ans: The basis for such claim is that through tilting of the main door, the Flying Stars chart will change. As such, the reigning Auspicious Facing Star may arrive at the main door based on the new Flying Stars chart, instead of the Inauspicious Facing Star based on the original Flying Stars chart. Do you think man is powerful than Nature?

Qns: Obviously no. So tilting of door is wrong?

Ans: Tilting of door, or changing/ deciding the door facing (立向), is a method and has its purpose. But the intent used here is wrong. Since man is not powerful than Nature, it is imperative for man to first know the Nature's influence and strength, and for man to adapt or take advantage of what Nature has given. From Fengshui perspective, the surroundings of our property is the Nature. By tilting the door to change the Flying Stars chart, has Nature change? Knowing the Nature's influence and strength is Xuan Kong Liu Fa's 雌雄，金龙 and 挨星 principles. There are ways to change the Nature's influence and strength, but definitely not simply changing a calculated chart.

Qns: So our main door facing and its location is not important?

Ans: To adapt or take advantage of what Nature has given, once we understand 雌雄，金龙 and 挨星, is to decide the facing (立向).This is 城门 principle. However, it does not mean that if the property is not able to have the ideal facing, it is not auspicious. Even If we are not able to have the required door facing, our property is still subject to the Nature's influence and strength. That is, if the influence is Auspicious, the property is still Auspicious, only unable to take full advantage of it. If the influence is Inauspicious, the property is still Inauspicious, only unable to reduce or curb the Inauspicious.

Ans: As such, the purpose for deciding the facing is to match 雌雄，金龙 and 挨星, to adapt or take advantage of Nature's influence and strength, and not because of Flying Stars chart. The intent of tilting the door or deciding the facing without knowing 雌雄、金龙 and 挨星 is futile. The intent of tilting the door or deciding the facing using Flying Stars, Da Gua or Eight Mansions as the basis is also futile. Apart from situations where the facing of a property naturally matches 雌雄，金龙 and 挨星, if the door will be tilted with respect to the property in order to match 雌雄，金龙 and 挨星, one has to know that such property is not without side effects, depending on the tilt. Yet, do you think it is necessary for every properties' facing to match 雌雄，金龙 and 挨星?

Qns: What about the location of the main door?

Ans: For Period 8 properties, the ideal main door locations to open are: South, Northwest, Northeast and West.

Qns: But I have heard of cases where situations improved greatly for occupants after they have tilted the door.

Ans: Not necessary due to changing the door facing. When the Nature's influence and strength is Auspicious, even if the facing is not ideal, the property is still Auspicious. With the right facing, it is even better. Regardless, there are certain calculated years where such Auspicious is evident only, and not every year. This is Tai Sui (太岁) principle.

Qns: What about Da Gua or Eight Mansions method?

Ans: The same explanation applies.

Qns: But I heard some use the most Yang (阳) side of the property, some use the facing of the whole building, to calculate the Flying Stars chart.

Ans: First, should one even be using Flying Stars to determine the Auspicious or Inauspicious of the property? Understand 易理 of Fengshui, which is Xuan Kong (玄空), also known as 心印 and one will not be confuse by what determines the facing and also understand whether Flying Stars, Da Gua or Eight Mansions method can be used, and if yes, what it can be used for, when it can be used and how it should be used.

昨日，有位客户问有关开斜门的作用。改斜门是有些地理师以玄空大卦、玄空飞星或八宅为主的一种方法。唯，是否改斜门就能使衰宅变成旺宅吗？

问：有人说从我的飞星盘看，我家大门收衰气。如改斜门，就能使大门收旺气。真能这样吗？

答：有这样的说法是因如改斜门，所谓的飞星盘就因门向不同而改变，使原本大门收衰运的向星改成收当运的向星。不过自问，人类是否比大道强？

问：当然不比大道强。那么，是否该斜门一说是错的？

答：所谓改斜门，也就是改门向或立向。它是有它的作用和目的。不过以上所用的目的是错的。既然人类不比大道强，了解大道、大自然的影响和力量是首要任务。后才看人类如何适应或充分利用大道所给的影响。从风水角度，一个宅的环境就是这里所说的大道、大自然。如改开斜门，改飞星盘，是否就改变了大道、大自然？了解大道、大自然的影响和力量就是玄空六法中的雌雄，金龙和挨星原理。要改变大道、大自然的影响不是没有，不过不是单靠改变一个用算出来的飞星盘。

问：那么门开在哪，门向哪就不重要吗？

答：要适应或充分利用用大道所给的影响，一旦了解雌雄，金龙和挨星，就是要确定立向。这就是城门的原理。不过，一个宅如不符合城门并不表示此宅就不吉。如不能符合所要的向，一个宅还是一样会受到大道影响。就是，如此宅的所受大自然的影响是吉的，虽不能符合所要的向，此宅也是吉，唯不能充分的利用或发挥。如此宅的所受大自然的影响是凶的，虽不能符合所要的向，此宅也是凶，唯不能减低或克制凶应。

答：所以，立向或改向的目的是为了符合雌雄，金龙，挨星，而不是为了改变所谓的飞星盘。如不知道雌雄，金龙，挨星的影响就改门向或立向，目的是徒劳的。以飞星、大卦或八宅为主而改门向或立向，目的也是徒劳的。除了一个宅的向在为更改下已符合雌雄，金龙和挨星之外，如为了符合门就会是开斜的，要知道这种斜门不是没有它的副作用。又，您认为是否每个宅的向都需要符合雌雄，金龙和挨星呢？

问：那门位呢？

答：对于8运的宅，8运里以门位开在南，西北，东北和西方最佳。

问：不过我有听说有些改了斜门后情况变的很好。

答：不一定是改门向的因素。当此宅所受到的影响是吉的，即使立向不对，也是吉。立向对了，此宅更旺。唯，吉应会是在某些年份，而不是每年都有所谓的财喜之应。这就是太岁法。

问：以大卦或八宅来改斜门呢？

答：和以上的解释是一样的。

问：不过我听说有些是以最阳的方向或以整个大楼的向来算出飞星盘的。

答：首先，是否应该用飞星来评估一个宅的衰旺呢？如了解易理、玄空，也就是心印后，就不会对以何立向感到混淆，也会了解是否飞星、大卦或八宅能不能用，如能用，什么情况能用，什么时候用，要这么样用。
