A Look at the Oval Office
A Look at the Oval Office

ovaloffice_backWith people spending large part of their time in the office, Fengshui for the office has become an important consideration in our world today. Whether one is an employee or business owner with his or her own office, an ideal office Fengshui brings benefits to the occupant, improving interpersonal relationships and even career enhancement.

Furthermore, from the office layout, one can shed light on some of the characteristic of the occupant in the office, or how the office layout may influence the occupant. Let’s take a look at a well-known office, the Oval Office, official office of the President of the United States of America.

Briefly, the desk is located at the center and back of the room, with three large windows behind the desk and a fireplace in front. The door opening to the main corridor of the West Wing is located on the front-left side of the office. This setting has remained largely unchanged since 1934. Such office layout induces a combative or aggressive nature from the occupant; the past and present Presidents of the United States of America. Furthermore, such layout is never short of oppositions. A very strong capability of the occupant is almost necessary with this layout, having to rely mostly on one-self.

At a glance, most people would have said it is because of the large windows behind the desk, resulting in the occupant having no ‘support’, in a literal sense, thus lacking benefactors and having to rely mostly on one-self.

But why must there be a ‘support’ behind our desk? What is the Fengshui principle behind this? What exactly are the negative Fengshui influences of having no ‘support’? How are the Fengshui principle and influences explained by 易理, and not literally? Are the Fengshui influences of such layout due to the large windows only?

If one understands “心印”, one will not only know the Fengshui principles and influences for internal forms (内栾), but also the 易理 behind as well.
